Based in La Jolla CA, Synthetic Genomics Inc. was founded to commercialize genomic-driven technologies. Our scientific strength lies in the decades of pioneering research by founders, J. Craig Venter, Ph.D., Nobel Laureate Hamilton O. Smith, M.D., and the leading scientific teams they have assembled.
The company's scientific capabilities encompass areas such as environmental genomics, microbiology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, plant genomics, genome engineering and synthetic biology.
Our areas of short term commercial focus include new methods of vaccine production, providing large/complex DNA constructs to a broad customer base, value-add human and animal nutritional ingredients including omega-3's, carotenoids and protein concentrates.
In the longer term, we continue to advance towards our goal of providing commercially viable renewable fuels and chemicals.
For nutrition and pharmaceutical applications, we are unique in our ability to work in a variety of hosts in both heterotrophic and phototrophic environments to create truly advantaged solutions for our partners.
