At the core of the company's innovation is its patented, solvent-free krill oil extraction technology — the first of its kind designed to operate entirely on board factory trawlers. This proprietary process produces pure krill oil directly at sea, from fresh raw krill, in less than two hours from capture. The oil becomes final on board, requiring no further purification or chemical treatment on land. The result is a GMO-free, solvent-free, pure and unblended krill oil produced through a significantly cleaner and more cost-effective process, reducing carbon emissions by up to 80% and eliminating much of the logistical complexity traditionally associated with krill oil manufacturing.

Building on this technology, THAROS completed a five-year research program that successfully extracted phospholipid-enriched oils and meals from marine waste streams, including head and viscera from multiple species. This work opens new pathways for valorizing marine residues into high-value products, contributing to a more sustainable and circular use of ocean resources.
