Tell us about yourself

I am a Norwegian living on the west coast of Norway with a strong interest in business development, research and commercialization of marine ingredients especially marine omega-3 fatty acids. I have extensive experience in documenting the health effects of krill oil and launching new krill oil products for both Aker Biomarine and for Rimfrost. Through this work I have obtained a range of patents and publications which have been important for the success of the krill oil industry. In addition, I have presented and explained the benefits of omega-3 to the international market at trade shows, meetings and conferences.  I have been on the board for Blue Legasea, a Norwegian network of marine ingredients companies. My background is a PhD in analytical chemistry from the University of Oslo and I have also been a postdoc at the University of Waterloo where I worked with thin-film microextraction.


Why are you running for the Board of Directors?

I have a strong interest in communicating the documented health effects of EPA/DHA to medical and scientific communities worldwide. If I become part of the Board of Directors in GOED, it will bring me further credibility and weight in this work. I have over 20 years of experience in working with krill oil and EPA/DHA concentrates, being part of the GOED board will help me to open new doors and access leading professionals in especially the medical community. I will be able to utilize the network within the GOED to expand my work further. My approach is to focus on the documented cell changes that are published and on correlations/associations to clinical and health indicators. I think this is an untapped opportunity as medical doctors often give advice to their patients of which foods, supplements etc. to use, however, many do not recommend EPA/DHA as they are not aware of the biological effects. By doing this work, I can hopefully bring more growth and reputation to the category and thereby bring more value to the other companies which are members of GOED.
