Tell us about yourself and your experience in the omega-3 industry

I have been working with omega-3s since 2007, when I joined ONC, so this industry has been a major part of my professional life for almost 20 years. Over that time, I have worked across many sides of the business, including sales, business development, sourcing, product development, manufacturing, and customer relationships.

Today at Icelandirect, I work closely with suppliers, customers, and our internal teams on fish oil, algal oil, krill oil, and other omega-3 products. That gives me a very practical view of the business, from raw material supply all the way to the finished product.

Over the years I have also built strong relationships with people throughout the industry around the world. What has kept me in omega-3 for so long is the combination of science, health, business, and the people involved in it.

Why are you running for the Board of Directors?

I am running for the GOED Board because after almost 20 years in the omega-3 industry, I feel it is time for me to contribute in a different way.

GOED has an important role in bringing the industry together and making sure omega-3 continues to have a strong and credible voice. We are dealing with real challenges around supply, sustainability, quality, regulation, consumer education, and the way we communicate the science behind omega-3s.

These are issues I deal with every day, so I believe I can bring a practical perspective to those conversations.

I also think it is important for the Board to stay close to what members are actually experiencing in the market. I would like to contribute what I have learned over the years, listen to the different perspectives around the table, and help GOED continue doing what is best for its members and for the omega-3 industry as a whole.

What experience, perspective or expertise would you bring to the Board and to the members you would represent?

I think the biggest thing I would bring to the Board is a practical, hands-on view of the omega-3 business. My experience has never been limited to just one area. I have worked with suppliers, manufacturers, brands, customers, product development, sourcing, and commercial strategy, so I tend to look at issues from several different sides.

I also bring an international perspective and long-standing relationships with people across the industry.

My approach is pretty simple. I like to listen, ask questions, understand the different points of view, and then use common sense to figure out what actually makes sense. I am not afraid to challenge an idea, but I also believe strongly in working together and finding solutions that are realistic.

That is the perspective I would bring to the Board and to the members I would represent.
