Lucas Jan Wiarda

Strategic Marketing Director

Corbion

Plus Level Candidate

Tell us about yourself and your experience in the omega-3 industry.

As Strategic Marketing Director at Corbion, I help advance sustainable, science-based nutrition solutions, including algae-derived omega-3. Over recent years, I have supported the growth of Corbion's global omega-3 business by connecting innovation, science, sustainability, and business strategies across aquaculture, livestock, pet and human nutrition. Through this work, I have built relationships across the omega-3 value chain, including producers, feed manufacturers, researchers, policymakers, and industry organizations.

My broader career spans senior leadership roles in finance, business, marketing, and general management at Corbion and
DSM.

I also co-founded the AMR Industry Alliance, bringing competing pharma companies together around a shared public health challenge (antimicrobial resistance). That experience feeds my belief that industries make the greatest progress when diverse stakeholders align around science, trust, and common goals. I would bring that same collaborative and action-oriented mindset to GOED and its members.

Why are you running for the Board of Directors?

I am running for the GOED Board because I believe in GOED's role as the global voice for the omega-3 industry and as the trusted platform for science, quality, collaboration and sustainable category growth.

Through my work in algae-derived omega-3, I have seen how both established and emerging sources of omega-3 can contribute to the long-term growth and resilience of the category. GOED is uniquely positioned to bring companies together across technologies, geographies, and applications to advance shared industry interests and expand access to omega-3 nutrition worldwide.

The omega-3 sector has a compelling public health proposition. At the same time, it faces important opportunities and challenges related to supply, science, regulation, sustainability, consumer awareness, and global market expansion. Addressing these effectively requires collaboration, credibility, and a united industry voice.

As a Plus Member representative, I would focus on listening actively, building alignment across diverse perspectives, and helping translate shared priorities into action. I am particularly motivated to strengthen partnerships within and beyond the omega-3 sector and to help ensure that science, innovation, and responsible growth continue to increase the global impact of omega-3 DHA and EPA.

What experience, perspective or expertise would you bring to the Board and to the members you would represent?

I would bring international leadership experience in strategy, marketing, sustainability, governance, coalition-building, and business development, combined with my network across the omega-3 value chain and adjacent stakeholders. Through my work with algae-derived omega-3s, I have gained insight into supply diversification, sustainability expectations, market adoption, and the opportunities and challenges associated with scaling innovative nutrition solutions.

Equally important, I understand the importance of strengthening the omega-3 category as a whole, rather than advancing a single technology only. As a co-founding Board Member of the AMR Industry Alliance, I helped unite companies with different technologies and priorities around a shared public health challenge. That experience taught me how industry organizations can build trust, create alignment, and translate collective ambition into action.

For Plus Members, I would be an engaged and accessible representative: listening actively, connecting perspectives, communicating transparently, and helping ensure that member priorities are reflected in GOED's strategic direction.
